Donny Boaz Stuns Young and the Restless Fans With Exit Announcement

Genoa City is losing one of its most popular faces.

Donny Boaz announced on Sunday that he is out of The Young and the Restless, and his final episode is set to air today, February 1.

“Sad news: Tomorrow, Monday, 02/01/21, as of now… will be my last air date on “The Young and The Restless.” Here’s what I know… I was told that Chance is NOT being replaced or killed off,” the actor shared on Instagram, adding:

“He’s just not gonna be there anymore.”

Okay then. It’s not uncommon for cast changes on daytime soap operas. They’re pretty much a revolving door, but given that the news came out a day before Donny’s final episode, it’s unfortunate.

“Overall, I am grateful and thankful for this amazing opportunity. I know that I’m walking away from this better at my craft than before I started,” he shared, adding:

“108 episodes. I want to thank #yr for this amazing opportunity. I want to thank the fans. You all have been AMAZING. Thank you,” he continued.

“I want to thank everyone associated with Y&R, my cast mates and the crew. You will be missed. I want to thank my agents and manager for bringing this opportunity into my life. We are optimistic for what is to come,” he said of his future, before directing the next part to his scene partner Melissa Ordway.

“I know I said I wanted us to be the greatest daytime tv couple ever, I aimed high, I’m sorry we didn’t get to see it through,” he said.

“Working with you has been my absolute pleasure and I can easily say that you are one of the greatest actresses I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. You deserve an Emmy… this year.”

“And… that’s a wrap. I am now a free agent. Time to get to work.”

According to Soaps.com, this is somewhat different from the original Instagram post, which strongly suggested the actor did not choose to leave.

“I’d love to say that this was my choice, that I’ve booked the next big project and [am] leaving of my own accord… but that wouldn’t be the truth,” he reportedly said in the original post, along with the following:

“I invested a year of my life into a storyline and didn’t get to see it through.”

Fans will not be impressed if the storyline has been cut short, but these things happen, and it will probably be explained how he left.

In fact, some of those fans took to social media to vent their frustration over social media when the stunning news was announced.

“How the heck is this going to keep our interest in the already-floundering storylines?” said one.

“How can they do something so stupid to a storyline that’s progressing the way yours is?” questioned another.

“Y & R’s loss, you are a genuine nice character and we will miss watching you & Abby’s storyline,” said a third fan.

“Wishing you the best finding a new project !! 2021 maybe the year I stop watching Y & R and stick with GH only.”

“This is so incredibly disappointing and definitely a mistake,” said another.

“I enjoyed you on the show so much and was looking forward to your storyline this year. You will absolutely be missed.”

There’s no word on whether Ordway is also on the way out, but fans have only a few hours before they say goodbye to Chance.

Boaz has also had roles on NCIS: New Orleans, P-Valley, and Six. We’ll keep you up to date on what comes next for the actor.

It’s clear he has a passionate fanbase who will follow him wherever he lands.

As for Y&R, it will continue for quite some time yet. It landed a four-season renewal in early 2020.

What are your thoughts on Chance disappearing without so much as a goodbye? Did you expect it to happen, or were you too invested in his story to consider it could happen?

How do you think this news will affect Melissa’s role on the show? Could this be the start of an exit storyline for her character?

Chat with me in the comments, Y&R fans.

Firefly Lane Review: Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke’s Netflix Soap Opera Is the Most Trivial of Pursuits

I’d love to say that I was wowed by Netflix’s series adaption of Kristin Hannah’s novel, Firefly Lane (dropping Wednesday, Feb. 3). Truth be told, I dive into every show that I’m tasked with reviewing hoping the same thing — to be dazzled, stunned, impressed.

I was none of those things. There was nothing there that we haven’t seen before, done smarter, more wittily and incisively, simply better.

Yet I didn’t hate it, as the trailer made me fear that I would. In the end, the show, developed by Maggie Friedman (late of ABC’s short-lived Eastwick and Lifetime’s also-short-lived Witches of East End) was a run-of-the-mill soap opera, an inoffensive diversion shining a spotlight on two extremely appealing actors — Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke — who were making the best of what… well, simply wasn’t the best.

The plot follows a pair of lifelong friends, impulsive firecracker Tully Hall (Heigl as an adult) and bookish sparkler Kate Mularkey (Chalke as an adult), through their introduction as eighth-graders to their grownup relationship. What happens in between is sorta like a game of chick-flick bingo. If it’s a cliché, if it’s expected, if it’s obvious, as surely as the BFFs call each other bitch as a term of endearment, it’s in there.

Yet at no point could I turn away. At no point did I even want to. Early on, I was hooked. After that, Season 1 washed over me like a dose of bedtime Benadryl. It was strangely enjoyable, from the terrible ’80s wigs to the “Wait, did I read this book already?” predictability of the plot twists.

It was, not to put too fine a point on it, not great. Not original. Not inventive. Not challenging in any way. But maybe because of the stressful times we’ve been through of late, it was just what I wanted.

It asks literally zilch of us.

Subtlety isn’t a consideration on Firefly Lane. The series is a sledgehammer. A pretty, pretty sledgehammer. From the yin/yang differences between Tully and Kate (as kids, the excellent tag team of Ali Skovbye and Roan Curtis, the former working a full pound of lip gloss, the latter saddled with glasses the size of dinner plates) to the Very Big Issues that concern their ’80s TV-station boss, Johnny (Ben Lawson), everything is written in oversized, bold text.

And underlined.

firefly-lane-review-netflix-series-katherine-heigl-sarah-chalke

Along the way, actors make the most of their material. In particular, Beau Garrett is a “Whoa!” as Tully’s pothead mom, Brandon Jay McLaren charms as an eventual crush, and Jenna Rosenow makes a fine Leslie Grossman stand-in as an early-oughts Edina Monsoon. And there’s not an instance in which Chalke’s earthiness doesn’t serve her well. Even when the scenarios into which Kate is thrown feel utterly fake and manipulative, her portrayer’s innate likability reels us right in.

Heigl, on the other hand, comes across like she knows she’s headlining a paint-by-numbers dramedy that will stay with us for… Oops. Already forgotten. And it’s confounding. She’s an executive producer on the project as well as one of its leads, yet she walks through it like it was a pilot that she didn’t ever expect to make it to air.

So, is Firefly Lane good? Alas, no. But is it entertaining? Kinda — and not even in a mean way. It’s an adequate time-passer till the shows for which you’re really jonesing are back on. There’s no more shame in indulging in it than there is in equating sex to ice cream.

I don’t need to tell you that Firefly Lane does that, too, do I? Yeah, at this point, I didn’t think so.

THE TVLINE BOTTOM LINE: Firefly Lane is the definition of C-grade television. It’s not going to KO anyone, but if you’ve got 10 hours to waste, it’s OK.

Gray Television Acquires Quincy Media For $925 Million In Cash

Broadcaster Gray Television Monday has acquired smaller family-owned Quincy Media for $925 million in cash in a deal that will land it with stations in 102 markets reaching over 25% of U.S. TV households.

Atlanta-based Gray said Monday its portfolio will include the top-ranked stations in 77 markets and first or second-ranked in 93 markets according to Comscore’s average all-day ratings for 2020.

Gray shares were up 2.7% at $17.51 in mid-morning trade.

“We are honored and humbled to be selected by Quincy’s shareholders to acquire their terrific company,” said Hilton Howell, Jr., Gray’s executive chairman and CEO. “Gray will become a stronger company with an even larger platform of high quality television stations to better serve the public interest first.”

The deal follows a spate of acquisitions in the station space in recent years that has turned groups like Nexstar, Sinclair and EW Scripps into giants. Recently, Allen Media has been pursuing broadcasting deals.

“Many of our shareholders, board members and employees are descendants of two families who have been in the company for 95 years and in the media business for over 100 years. The focus has always been on serving our communities with the best in news, public service and community involvement. It is a legacy of which we are very proud,” said Ralph Oakley, CEO of the private Quincy, Illinois company that owns stations and local digital platforms in 16 markets primarily in the Midwest.

The companies noted that Gray and Quincy both maintain local control over programming and operational decisions, including in local news operations, programming, community engagement and public service.

Gray said the stations it will acquire are:

WPTA (ABC/NBC) and WISE (CW) in Fort Wayne, Indiana (DMA 104)

WEEK (NBC/ABC/CW) in Peoria, Illinois (DMA 118)

WREX (NBC/CW) in Rockford, Illinois (DMA 132)

KBJR (NBC/CBS) and KDLH (CW) in Duluth, Minnesota (DMA 136)

KTIV (NBC/CW) in Sioux City, Iowa (DMA 147)

KTTC (NBC/CW) in Rochester-Mason City, Minnesota-Iowa (DMA 156)

WBNG (CBS/CW) in Binghamton, New York (DMA 158)

WVVA (NBC/CW) in Bluefield-Beckley, West Virginia (DMA 162)

WGEM (NBC/FOX/CW) in Quincy, Illinois (DMA 172)

To satisfy regulators, Gray will be divesting Quincy stations in markets where it owns overlapping stations, including Tucson, Arizona, Madison, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a few others.

Wells Fargo Securities will be marketing the stations to third parties in transactions that could be cash sales, station swaps or a combination of both.

Gray will acquire Quincy’s Heroes & Icons affiliate WSJV in South Bend, Indiana and WGEM(AM)/-FM in Quincy, Illinois.

Gray will not acquire Quincy’s newspaper operations, which will be divested prior to closing. It intends to finance the transaction, net of divestiture proceeds, with cash on hand and/or new debt. Wells Fargo has provided a debt financing commitment for an incremental loan to finance up to the full purchase price of $925 million.

Gray anticipates that its expected strong free cash flow generation throughout 2021 will allow it to continue to deleverage following the closing and expects total leverage ratio, net of all cash and net of proceeds from divestiture sales, would approximate 4 times trailing eight-quarter operating cash flow.

Shameless Season 11 Episode 5 Review: Slaughter

Shameless is going the predictable route in its final season, and it’s hardly surprising.

The series has been running on fumes for years. After another hiatus, Shameless Season 11 Episode 5 gave us only subtle hints about what to expect throughout the rest of Shameless Season 11.

It was inevitable the battle against the Milkoviches would end in disaster, and Liam shooting a bullet into the sky only for it to come back down and hit Terry was ridiculous.

Was it deserved? Yes. Terry has been an evil figure on the series since the beginning, spewing hate and bigotry everywhere he walked.

The only good thing about the storyline is that it will probably send the rest of the family running for the hills because they will believe they’re marked for death.

Then again, Liam yelled as he shot the gun so that he could come back to bite him if another neighbor hears about it. Carl was adamant that killing a Milkovich would not lead to any questions being asked, but will that really be the case?

The family has many enemies, but what if Liam winds up being arrested for his action, even if he didn’t mean for it to harm anyone.

The kid wanted to send a message that he was no longer frightened, but when Carl puts two and two together about where the bullet came from, I don’t doubt Liam will feel somewhat guilty.

This is all assuming Terry dies, but the final moments certainly made it seem like he was still very lucid, but he didn’t have the ability to move or speak.

Would it be poetic justice if Terry had to live out the rest of his days in the hospital without drinking alcohol, spewing hate, or speaking?

Mickey would probably see it that way, but what if the rest of the family swoops in and tries to take down the Gallaghers? This could be the sole intriguing storyline as we head towards the home stretch of this meandering final season.

Speaking of Mickey, it wasn’t even comical that the person who intercepted the van and took some of the money was his cousin. There are so many Milkoviches that I’m beginning to think they’re the reason the South Side is in such a desperate state.

Sandy keeping things from Debbie was hardly surprising. If you watch Shameless online, you know Debbie is one of the most self-centered characters on all of TV, but I’m starting to think their relationship only flourished because Debbie didn’t ask questions about Sandy’s life.

Debbie was understandably worried that Sandy was cheating on her that she became Crazy Debbie in a matter of scenes.

Sandy strikes me as the type of person who runs from relationships when they get too serious, and if Debbie questions her every move, Debbie will probably be the one left heartbroken.

The only good thing about this storyline is that it’s giving Debbie food for thought. Her selfishness knows no bounds, but if she can start to make some positive changes in her life, there’s a good chance she could turn her life around.

I predicted earlier in the season that Lip and Tami’s rented home would be sold from under them.

Lip put hundreds of hours of work into the house, despite it being rented, but I can see why. He didn’t come from much, and he wanted a home for his family that he was proud of.

Unfortunately, he learned the hard way that the person who owns the house gets to make all the big decisions.

Visiting the Slaughter household was a scary experience, but if they can make it their own and forget the past, they can put down new roots at an affordable price.

The garage’s new owners were horrid in how they wanted to cut hours and hourly rates, but it’s a tale that’s becoming all too common in this world. Shameless has been known for tackling social issues, and this might be a decent final storyline for Lip.

Unfortunately, he turned back to alcohol after losing his job, but he’s at his breaking point. The episode didn’t touch on whether meetings were still going on during the pandemic, but I think it’s highly doubtful.

Tami was a big surprise. She was on board with moving into Murder house, but she’s going to flip when she learns that Lip lost his job and is back on alcohol.

This will probably bring about her grandmother’s house again, the one that almost split them up on Shameless Season 10.

With the South Side seemingly getting more dangerous and opportunities diminishing, it’s possible that the series finale could find the Gallaghers moving somewhere new.

I believe Carl will stay behind to try to fix things as a cop, but it would be plausible to have everyone else move beyond that.

V’s political storyline may have come out of nowhere, but at least she is getting to see first-hand how the people of color have been priced out of the area.

The beauty of a character like V is that she stands up for what is right, and I hope much success is in her future.

Frank trying to kill the lady next door was typical Frank, but might he wind up in the frame for trying to kill Terry? Frank might see going to prison as a means of apologizing for his awful behavior.

That’s all I got, Shameless fans!

What did you think of the episode?

Are you growing tired of the back and forth?

Hit the comments.

Shameless continues Sundays at 9/8c on Showtime.

‘The Rookie’, ‘SVU’ Producers And Writers Talk How Bringing Honest Stories About Policing To Crime Series Can Have Impact

During Color of Change’s Sundance panel “Looking Forward: The Future of Crime Television”, Terence Paul Winter, executive producer & writer of The Rookie; Sunil Nayar, former writer/showrunner of All Rise; and Melody Cooper, writer & story editor of Law & Order SVU unpacked a topic that is impacting storytelling on television more now than ever: the portrayal of policing and the criminal justice system in this country.

As the reckoning of social justice and authentic representation in Hollywood continues to forge ahead and fight an uphill battle for systemic change the writers talked about the changing landscape when it comes to storytelling on their shows. After George Floyd’s murder, the landscape has changed drastically in terms of how to portray stories involving the police, the court system and justice. It’s a struggle that has been ignored for far too long and change is slowly yet surely being made.

Moderated by Color Of Change’s Culture & Entertainment Advocacy Director Kristen Marston, the conversation between Winter, Cooper and Nayar was candid and eye-opening as they discussed their experiences while working on TV series. Some of their experiences were good and some of them will make you raise your eyebrows. Either way, the trio is bringing change and being more vocal when it comes to making changes in storytelling on crime series.

For Cooper, she came to SVU as a playwright that leaned heavily into social justice issues — two things that have helped her with authentic storytelling. More than that, she started to get really engaged with the intersection of TV writing and social justice when her brother Chris Cooper, was part of the viral video that made headlines when a woman called the cops on him in Central Park while he was minding his own business and bird watching. “This is a chance for me to put my money where my mouth is,” said Cooper, whose own experiences and talent aims to affect change.

For Winter, he said that one thing that is needed in crime series is an honest portrayal of policing and the criminal justice system. With the work they do on their shows, he asks, “What are the effects of what we do and how does it affect the community at large?” In other words, how do the characters of their shows and their experiences impact what we see in the real world.

He uses Morgan Freeman’s role in Angel Has Fallen and Dennis Haysbert on 24 as an example saying that, although it wasn’t the sole reason Barack Obama was elected as president — but it didn’t hurt.

That said, Winter points out if crime series like SVU, The Rookie and All Rise tell honest stories with police, it won’t be so pigeonholed. Everyone has different experiences with police or the justice system — so why not put that on display? This is very relevant when police and the justice system treat Black and brown people.

Winter continued to say that maybe if portrayals of the police were honest, people won’t think the treatment of people of color by police will be believed by more people. “We have an opportunity to be part of the solution,” said Winter.

For Nayar, he had a moment where he was questioning what he was doing when he first worked on CSI: Miami where each episode ended with a white man shooting somebody. “What am I putting on TV?” Nayar asked. He began to reevaluate what he was doing and things became even more clear during the reckoning — specifically with his experience on All Rise.

Nayar, along with many people of color on staff, stepped down from their post at the CBS crime drama All Rise when there were disputes as to how showrunner Greg Spottiswood was handling race and gender. The show is led by a Black woman and the cast includes a majority of people of color. “It opened my eyes,” Nayar said the in regards to his experience with the show.

During the panel, he said, “The idea that you can be criticized for being aware is so weird.” Nayar further unpacked the divisiveness of the conversation about diversity on series — particularly crime series. He said that it’s always “a conversation that exists versus the conversation that was.”

Nayar, who has also worked on the hyper-inclusive limited series The Red Line, continued to say when it comes to the subject matter of this nature. In particular, he said that when issues that impact marginalized communities are in the right hands, it’s a good thing, but when it’s in the wrong hands, “you’re fighting an uphill battle.”

Cooper talked about how organizations like Color of Change help bring this change and fight the battle. With SVU as her first show, Cooper said she was one of the only marginalized voices in the writers’ room which makes it more difficult to speak up. By having the organization engage with the SVU teamit helped bolster Cooper’s voice when it came to authentic storytelling. She said that with Color of Change backing her, she felt empowered to speak on things more loudly.

If anything, the panel aligned with the ongoing “Representation Matters” movement — but with the portrayal of Black and brown stories in a crime series, it is even more relevant. It’s not just about ticking boxes and having them present in the room as a token, it’s about, as Winter said, “giving them agency”.

Days of Our Lives Round Table: Ciara’s Alive!

Allie finally allowed Marlena to hypnotize her, Rafe and Nicole got closer, Abby was pushed to forgive Chad, and to no one’s shock, Ciara turned up alive but held captive outside of Salem.

Our TV Fanatics Jack and Christine are joined by Kayla from MyHourglass, a Days of Our Lives fan forum to debate how many people owe Tripp an apology, whether they want Ciara back in Salem, if Nicole belongs with Eric or Rafe, and much more…

Days Of Our Lives Round Table 1-27-15

Allie remembered Charlie raped her and apologized to Tripp. Who else is at the top of your “Apologize to Tripp” list, and why?

Kayla: Let me say, I am very happy about this. Next to apologize to Tripp, It should be Kayla, for sure, and then Lucas. (However, I did love that Lucas was trying to be there for his daughter).

Jack: Lucas and Roman. Lucas attacked Tripp with a pair of scissors, and Roman told him to get out of town and did the Salem equivalent of cursing him out just because he put up a missing persons’ flyer after Charlie kidnapped Ava.

Nicole also owes Tripp an apology, but Roman is the one that stuck in my head because it was so out of character and obnoxious.

Christine: I’m eager to see the discussion between Tripp and Kayla because I think that’s the person who hurt Tripp the most.

But Lucas and Roman were both horrible. I understood their anger given what they thought they knew, but the constant threats of violence towards Tripp were still wrong. They definitely owe Tripp apologies as well.

Ciara is alive! Rate your excitement from 1 (Can she go back to being dead?) to 10 (I’m thrilled she’s back!)

Kayla: To be honest, I have mixed feelings. I am happy for Ben, but I am so sick of this storyline that I just want it to be over.

Jack: Meh. I’m not a fan of Ben and Ciara and their co-dependent relationship (Ben can’t decide what shirt to wear without Ciara’s input? Really?)

I’m giving it a 2 only because at least we get rid of the constant grief over someone who is still alive now that she’s been proven to be.

Christine: If Ciara had the possibility of a story that didn’t involve her over-the-top love for Ben, then I might be more excited.

But seriously, she’s been back all of a minute, and they’re already doing a Romeo and Juliet theme? Oye.

Brady got shot! Who’s fault was it? Brady’s, Philip’s, Chloe’s, the Vitali mob, someone else’s?

Kayla: I feel like it was both Phillip’s and Vitali mob because if Phillip wasn’t involved with them, none of this would off happened.

One good thing to come out of all of this is new Broe content.

Jack: I feel like being snarky and saying the writers, who thought this unoriginal story was a good idea.

But okay. Obviously, the Vitali mob goon pulled the trigger on Angelo’s order, so they’re literally responsible, and the goon was so stupid he didn’t even look to see who he was shooting at.

Philip is the most to blame since he refused on multiple occasions to go to either Victor or the cops and put an end to this.

Christine: Philip and the Vitali mob. The mob actually pulled the trigger, but Philip got himself and then Chloe and Brady into this mess.

I hate what a mess this story has made of Philip. He used to be a flawed but likable character. Now he’s just whiny and irresponsible. It’s not a good look.

Anna pushed Abigail to forgive Chad and get back together. Should Abby do just that?

Kayla: Look, I get that Chad supposedly slept with Gwen, but for all they could of known, she could have drugged him.

I think Anna’s right that Abby should forgive Chad. After all, they have gone through, I wouldn’t want to throw that all away and especially since Chad went out of his way to find out the truth about Gwen.

Jack: No, no, no. I love Anna, and I loved her giving Abigail advice, but she’s wrong. As Abigail has said several times, it isn’t the sex. It’s that Chad has zero faith in her or their relationship, and she didn’t even mention the horrible things he said about her faking her mental illness to get out of trouble.

If this couple were to go to a marriage counselor and do the hard work of rebuilding what has been broken, then maybe. But as it is, Abby should move on.

Christine: No! Chad chose to believe that his wife faked her mental illness to have an affair with his brother, all on Gwen’s say so. That’s a severe breach of trust.

Do I think their marriage is over? It doesn’t have to be, but there’s a lot of work that needs to be done.

These two love one another, and they have two kids, so they should work on their problems. I wish the show would have them working with a marriage counselor because that could be both dramatic and realistic, but I doubt we’ll get that, which is a shame.

Do you want to see Rafe and Nicole as a couple, or will Nicole’s heart always belong to Eric?

Kayla: Two letters can answer this N-O, which means no. I think Nicole’s heart will always belong to Eric.

Jack: I have shipped Rafe and Nicole since Rafe pretended to be the father of one of Nicole’s babies that didn’t make it. I am beyond excited that the writers are FINALLY going there after all these years!

I just hope that Eric doesn’t turn back up just as Rafe and Nicole get serious.

I have not bought this Eric being the love of Nicole’s life nonsense since he berated her over the shreds half a decade ago, and I don’t want to see Rafe get his heart broken again.

(Let’s also hope that a recast Hope doesn’t turn up to interfere with this pairing.)

Christine: Eric is a tedious bore, and he’s always judging Nicole for her bad decisions, even though he has a horrible temper that no one ever judges him for.

I like Nicole and Rafe. They have a solid friendship and could make a really fun couple, but I’m too afraid of Eric strolling back into Salem to get my hopes up.

What do you find most frustrating about the show right now?

Kayla: I have a few things Ciara’s storyline, Kristen, Gwen, The Twin Kidnapping, Vitali Mob, Charlie, and Phillip.

Jack: I’m beyond frustrated with the awful way Allie’s rape is being treated. It’s wonderful that Lindsey Arnold (Allie) offered support to real-life survivors after the flashbacks.

Still, real-life survivors have gotten virtually no support from watching this, as it is focused on poor Tripp being falsely accused and Allie and her trauma are an afterthought.

The writers also keep skipping realistic, compelling stories that are right in front of their faces to have constant kidnappings and other unnecessary, unoriginal stories.

We could have had a story about new parents Eli and Lani not knowing how to deal with their own parents imposing their opinions on them as they begin to raise their children, but instead, we got yet another story about babies being stolen from the hospital.

We could have had Brady trying to help Philip understand he is a gambling addict, but instead, we had Brady getting shot yet again.

We could have had Charlie and Claire be two damaged people who were starting over together instead of Charlie turning out to be yet another nice guy turned evil.

And Gwen swearing revenge because of something JJ did to her at boarding school that he doesn’t even remember would have been far more compelling than this stupid revenge because she thinks Jack didn’t want her as a daughter.

Christine: I find the pacing of the twins’ kidnapping frustrating because we get maybe one day a week on that story, with minimal movement.

That Gabi has come back to town with the sole purpose of trying to win back Jake at the detriment of her relationship with Kate is very frustrating.

And I wish they’d stop Philip from whining that it’s all Xander’s fault. Philip is a military veteran who lost his leg!

Why not give him issues with that, or explore his gambling problems but, as someone who has generally enjoyed this character, making him out to be the entitled family loser is frustrating to watch.

What was your favorite quote, scene, or storyline from this week’s Days of Our Lives?

Kayla: My favorite scene, for sure, was when Allie finally remembered what happened to her that night, as it was the first time we got to see the story in another light.

Jack: I loved, loved, loved Rafe and Nicole getting together! Nicole was so much more relaxed around Rafe than she ever was around Eric, and it was fun.

I also liked Marlena and Allie’s session. That was the one day that Allie’s rape was taken seriously, and it was well done.

Christine: That Allie finally was allowed to remember what happened to her. Those scenes were a long time coming—too long—but at least they were well done.

And as much as I don’t condone violence, seeing Abigail punch Gwen was highly satisfying!

Vice Unveils Feature Docs For Suroosh Alvi-Curated Online Site, Kicks Off With ‘The Toxic Pigs of Fukushima’

Vice is launching its own online documentary film festival with 11 feature-docs curated by the company’s co-founder Suroosh Alvi.

The youth-skewing media company is launching a microsite to house the films, which includes a number of Oscar contenders, with each film featuring a Q&A with Alvi and the filmmakers and subjects.

The films are The Toxic Pigs of Fukushima, Showgirls of Pakistan, We Hold the Line, Sakawa, Another Kind of Paradise, Dope Is Death, Mayor, The Donut King, Yung Lean – In My Head, Two Gods and The Prophet and the Space Aliens (full details below).

The collection will be preceded by a linear airing of The Toxic Pigs of Fukushima, which will air today, January 31 at 6:30am PT, on Vice TV, with the site going live at 8am PT.

The Short List With Suroosh Alvi is produced by Vice World News and distributed worldwide by Vice Distribution. Executive producers are Suroosh Alvi and Maral Usefi, directed by Caroline Pahl and Brett Karley and producers are Caroline Pahl and Zara Meerza.

“Since Vice began, we’ve strived to report on the underreported, give a voice to the unheard, champion unique storytelling, and challenge the status quo. It’s key to who we are and what we do,” said Alvi. “I wanted to continue this pursuit with a new initiative for Vice that highlights some of the world’s best filmmakers and give them an opportunity to tell these important stories.”
