The battle for Batman’s city is nearly over. The CW has cancelled Gotham Knights, so it won’t be back for a second season. The first season of 13 episodes will finish airing on June 27th.

A DC superhero series, the Gotham Knights TV show stars Oscar Morgan, Olivia Rose Keegan, Navia Robinson, Fallon Smythe, Tyler DiChiara, Anna Lore, Rahart Adams, and Misha Collins. In the story, Batman is dead, and a powder keg has ignited Gotham City without the Dark Knight to protect it. In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his adopted son, Turner Hayes (Morgan), is framed for the killing, along with the children of some of the Caped Crusader’s enemies. They include skilled thief Duela Doe (Keegan), aka The Joker’s Daughter; streetwise engineer Harper Row (Smythe); and her brother, clever transgender teen Cullen Row (DiChiara). With District Attorney Harvey Dent (Collins) and the GCPD hot on their trail, Turner relies on allies, including coder Stephanie Brown (Lore), and unlikely Batman sidekick Carrie Kelley (Robinson).

Airing on Tuesday nights, the first season of Gotham Knights averages a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 416,000 viewers. It’s a middle-of-the-road performer for the network. In the live+7 day ratings, episodes pick up about 70% more viewers.

Today, The CW renewed All American: Homecoming for a third season and Superman & Lois for a fourth season, leaving the latter as the last remaining DC superhero series on the network. Both will have fewer episodes than before as the network’s new owners cut costs. Management is moving away from airing original scripted series and is working to reduce expenses by airing acquired scripted shows and low-cost reality programming.

What do you think? Have you enjoyed watching the Gotham Knights TV series? Are you disappointed the show’s been cancelled instead of renewed for a second season?

Showtime has confirmed that Billions won’t see an eighth season. The cable channel has announced a summer premiere date for the upcoming seventh season and acknowledged that those would be the final 12 episodes of the series.

Starring Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll, Maggie Siff, David Costabile, Asia Kate Dillon, Condola Rashad, Jeffrey DeMunn, and Daniel Breaker, the series follows the world of high finance in NYC. The show’s story initially focused on hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) and his nemesis, United States Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti). Lewis left the show after five seasons, but it’s been revealed that he will return for half of the upcoming season.

Showtime has revealed additional details in a press release:

“Billions has deftly explored power, money and greed in a way that not only made it a massive hit, but also defined its own genre thanks to the creative brain trust of Brian and David,” said Chris McCarthy, President & CEO, SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks. “This final season is packed full of the incredible, complex dialogue and character dynamics fans have come to love, and we are thrilled to partner with them on turning this hit series into a global franchise.”

In season seven, alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world. BILLIONS also stars David Costabile, Asia Kate Dillon, Dola Rashad, Jeffrey DeMunn, Sakina Jaffrey, Daniel Breaker and Toney Goins.

Since its premiere in 2016, BILLIONS has been one of the most watched signature series on SHOWTIME, year after year. As previously announced, SHOWTIME is in the process of expanding the BILLIONS universe with several projects in development, all executive produced by BILLIONS showrunners Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who have established their own acclaimed brand of propulsive storytelling and articulately incorrigible characters. Paul Schiff will also executive produce the new projects in this franchise.

BILLIONS is created and executive produced by showrunners Koppelman and Levien (Rounders). Beth Schacter also serves as showrunner and executive producer. The series was also created by Andrew Ross Sorkin. All previous seasons of BILLIONS are available for subscribers on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME. Professionals: Season Two? The CW Series Cancelled But the Search Is On for a New Outlet

Professionals TV Show on The CW: canceled or renewed?

Corbo is on the hunt for a new home. The CW has reportedly cancelled the Professionals series so the hunt is on for a new home.

An international action drama series, the first season of the Professionals TV show stars Tom Welling, Brendan Fraser, Elena Anaya, Ken Duken, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ken Duken, Lisa Loven Kongsli, August Wittgenstein, Stevel Marc, Tanya Van Graan, and Nic Rasenti. In the story, Vincent Corbo (Welling) is a top-tier security operative who is paid to protect the interests of rich and powerful clients by any means necessary — legal or not. After a next-gen medical satellite explodes on launch, Corbo is hired by the rocket’s designer, billionaire futurist Peter Swann (Fraser), who suspects sabotage. Complicating Corbo’s new job is the fact that his former paramour, medical visionary Dr. Grace Davila (Anaya), is now Swann’s fiancée. She’s also racing to help stave off a global catastrophe. As Corbo and his team of veteran security professionals investigate the rocket disaster, they expose a lethal conspiracy of Swann’s corporate rivals, corrupt government officials, and a shadowy crime syndicate.

Airing on Tuesday nights, the first season of Professionals averaged a 0.04 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 285,000 viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). It was the network’s lowest-rated scripted series of the season. In the live+7 day ratings, the episodes picked up about 45% more viewers.

According to co-creator Jeff Most, of Jeff Most Productions, The CW passed on a second season of Professionals, but the show is being shopped to other outlets. If the show does return, it will be without Fraser (his character wasn’t intended to return), but Welling is reportedly game to continue. Season two would focus on a new mission, so some supporting characters from the first season would return but others would not.

What do you think? Did you watch the Professionals TV series on The CW? Are you disappointed to hear that the show has been cancelled on The CW? Are you hoping that it gets renewed for a second season elsewhere?

Grand Crew: Cancelled, No Season Three Renewal for NBC Comedy Series

Grand Crew TV show on NBC: canceled or renewed for season 3?

This group of friends isn’t coming back for a third season — NBC has cancelled Grand Crew. The show’s second season of 10 episodes finished in April.

A comedy series, the Grand Crew TV show stars Echo Kellum, Nicole Byer, Aaron Jennings, Justin Cunningham, Carl Tart, and Grasie Mercedes. The story revolves around a group of young professionals in Los Angeles who are all trying to navigate the ups and downs of life and love. One way or the other, they always find time to gather at their favorite bar to “wine down” and unpack it all. Noah (Kellum) is a hopeless romantic who’s too eager to settle down. His sister Nicky (Byer) is a go-getter in real estate who’s also adventurous in romance. Meanwhile, Sherm (Tart) is a low-key genius who plays the dating odds. There’s also Anthony (Jennings), whose true love is his career, and Wyatt (Cunningham), who’s relieved to be married and out of the dating scene. And finally, there’s Fay (Mercedes), who’s recently divorced and looking to start fresh in the City of Angels. These friends prove that life may have its challenges, but it’s always better with your crew.

Airing on Friday nights, the second season of Grand Crew averaged a 0.18 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.16 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 42% in the demo and down by 28% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM). It was the peacock network’s lowest-rated scripted series of the season. In the live+7 day ratings, episodes picked up just 16% more viewers.

NBC’s Young Rock comedy series was also cancelled today. A decision on the fate of American Auto has yet to be announced. The network ordered a new workplace comedy, St. Denis Medical, starring Wendi McLendon-Covey and David Alan Grier.

What do you think? Have you enjoyed watching the Grand Crew TV series? Are you sorry this comedy has been cancelled instead of renewed for a third season? Were you expecting this show to be dropped?
