Why Women Kill Canceled: Paramount+ Rescinds Season 3 Renewal

Why Women Kill is not moving forward at Paramount+.

The streaming service on Friday revealed it had canceled the Marc Cherry anthology drama after two seasons, despite handing out a renewal in December 2021.

“Paramount+ has made the difficult decision not to move forward with Season 3 of Why Women Kill,” a statement from the streamer reads.

“We would like to thank our partners at CBS Studios and Imagine Television Studios, the amazing creator and showrunner Marc Cherry and the incredible writers, cast and crew for two memorable seasons.”

The series has been well-received since its debut, thanks to its darkly comedic twists and turns.

Why Women Kill Season 2 picked up in 1949, and explored what it means to be beautiful and the hidden truth behind the facades people present to the world.

It also touched on the effects of being ignored and overlooked by society and finally, and the lengths one woman will go in order to finally belong.

Lana Parrilla toplined the sophomore run, with the rest of the cast including Allison Tolman, B.K. Cannon, Jordane Christie, Matthew Daddario, Veronica Falcón, and Nick Frost.

The first season starred Lucy Liu, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.

No reason has been given for the cancellation, and when you consider Paramount+ is expanding globally, it is a little surprising.

Then again, at least fans can take solace in the fact that each season had a definite conclusion because of the way the show was executed.

Cherry also serves as executive producer alongside Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Samie Kim Falvey; Acme Productions’ Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis.

Marc Webb, Francie Calfo, David Warren, Austin Guzman, and Curtis Kheel executive produce as well.

It was recently announced that Paramount+ series The Good Fight was ending after six seasons.

Meanwhile, there are unconfirmed reports that The Challenge: All Stars and The Real World Homecoming could be on the chopping block.

Tom Swift Canceled at The CW

Tom Swift is not long for this world.

The CW is pulling the plug on the Nancy Drew spinoff a month into its run.

Deadline broke the news Thursday, confirming that the network will air the entirety of the season.

The series got off to a mediocre start in the ratings in May, and is averaging around 500,000 viewers with a week of DVR factored in.

In any other season, those numbers might have been enough for The CW to keep the show around.

However, these are difficult times for the network.

Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount are exploring a sale, with recent supports suggesting Nexstar could be in line to purchase 75%.

The CW canceled beloved dramas, Legends of Tomorrow, Legacies, Charmed, Dynasty, Roswell, New Mexico, In the Dark, Naomi, and Batwoman.

It was a shock for the fans who had invested time in the shows, but it highlights that the network, as we know it, is over.

Tom Swift is a popular IP and Tian Richards originated the character in an episode of Nancy Drew last year.

“As an exceptionally brilliant inventor with unlimited resources and unimaginable wealth, the devilishly charming Tom Swift is a man who many men would kill to be, or be with — a man with the world in the palm of his hand,” the official description reads.

“But that world gets shaken to its core after the shocking disappearance of his father, thrusting Tom into a breathtaking adventure full of mysterious conspiracies and unexplained phenomena.”

“On his whirlwind quest to unravel the truth, Tom finds himself fighting to stay one step ahead of an Illuminati-scale cabal hellbent on stopping him.”

Ashleigh Murray (Riverdale) plays Zenzi, Tom’s best friend, whose unabashed and unvarnished candor keeps him grounded while she forges a path for herself as a business visionary.

Marquise Vilsón played bodyguard Isaac, whose fierce commitment to his chosen family is complicated by his own simmering feelings for Tom.

LeVar Burton voices Barclay, Tom’s AI, whose insights and tough love have been a constant throughout Tom’s life.

Melinda Hsu Taylor and Noga Landau, showrunner and co-creator of Nancy Drew, created the new project alongside Cameron Johnson.

They all served as writers and Executive Producers.

Bret Michaels Hospitalized Before Nashville Show For Undisclosed Medical Emergency

Bret Michaels, 59, was hospitalized in Nashville shortly before tonight’s stop on “The Stadium Tour,” which pairs his band Poison with Motley Crue and Def Leppard. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Classless Act were also a part of the Nashville lineup. The nature of his illness was not disclosed.

The Nashville Tennessean reported that the other members of Poison took to the stage to announce the band would not appear. The tour’s next stop is Saturday in Jacksonville, which is scheduled to be the first of three shows in four days. It is unclear if Michaels’ condition will allow him to make those dates.

The “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” singer, who has had type 1 diabetes for most of his life, has had a number of health scares in the past dozen years. He had a brain hemorrhage which required an operation in 2010, according to People. Shortly thereafter, the Rock of Love star underwent another surgery, this time to repair a hole in his heart following a mini-stroke.

Michaels was a judge on the talent show Nashville Star. He starred in VH1’s reality show Rock of Love. He won NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice and was also featured in the reality docu-series Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.

Julia Garner Sits Front Row at Drag Show and Gets Props for Madonna Role

Love Island: Sarah Hyland to Host Peacock Revamp

It turns out, Peacock is switching everything up when it comes to Love Island.

The fourth season of the hit dating format will air its first season on the streaming service, beginning July 19, with six episodes planned per week.

With a new home, a new filming location, and even a new narrator, many questioned whether Arielle Vandenberg would return as host.

We now have our answer…

Peacock revealed Thursday that Modern Family star Sarah Hyland will be hosting the new season.

It is a bit of a shocker when you consider how well Vandenberg was received, but it does seem like Peacock wants to effectively make a new show.

The move to streaming will result in a steamier iteration of the format, according to the streaming service.

Hyland is best known for her starring role as Haley Dunphy on Golden Globe and 5-consecutive Emmy-award winning hit ABC comedy series Modern Family.

Hyland has been working in film and television since she was four years old. She made her debut in Howard Stern’s Private Parts, and at the age of eight landed the role of Molly in ABC’s Annie.

Hyland will also be starring in Peacock’s highly-anticipated upcoming comedy series, Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, which is set to launch on November 23.

Peacock poached Love Island from CBS in a highly competitive situation, ordering two seasons for its streaming service.

It was announced earlier this month that narrator of the original UK series, Iain Stirling, would be lending his voice to the revamp.

“The moment the decision was made to bring an all-new version of LOVE ISLAND to Peacock, we knew we had to get Iain on board,” said Jenny Groom, EVP Entertainment Unscripted Content, NBCUniversal.

Groom continued, “Iain embodies everything fans love about the show – humor, irreverence and cheeky fun. LOVE ISLAND would not be the same without him.”

The new series will not be shot abroad. Instead, the singles will be somewhere on the California coast.

Love Island Season 2 shot in Vegas due to the pandemic, and it was arguably the best season of the series, so we’re sure the California coast will be just fine.

Langham will recur as Melville Phipps, a Los Angeles native and attorney for a very wealthy oil baroness. He works well under women and acts as a caretaker when necessary.

It’s the worst year of the Depression, and Perry and Della (Juliet Rylance) have set the firm on a safer path pursuing civil cases instead of the tumultuous work that criminal cases entail. Q-Force: Cancelled, No Season Two for Adult Animated Series on Netflix

Q-Force TV show on Netflix: canceled, no season 2

(Netflix)

This team of spies has been retired. According to one of the writers and actors on Q-Force, the Netflix series has been cancelled so viewers won’t be seeing a second season.

An adult animated series, the Q-Force TV show stars Sean Hayes, Gary Cole, David Harbour, Patti Harrison, Laurie Metcalf, Matt Rogers, Wanda Sykes, and Gabe Liedman. Steve Maryweather (Hayes), AKA Agent Mary, was once the Golden Boy of the American Intelligence Agency (AIA) — until he came out as gay. Unable to fire him, the Agency sent him off to West Hollywood, to disappear into obscurity. Instead, Mary assembles a misfit squad of LGBTQ+ geniuses. Joining forces with the expert mechanic Deb (Sykes), master of drag and disguise Twink (Rogers), and hacker Stat (Harrison), together they’re Q-Force. But, after a decade of waiting for their first official mission from The AIA, Mary becomes hell-bent on proving himself to the Agency that turned its back on him, and decides to go rogue with Q-Force. After finding their own case, and solving it on their own terms, they get the reluctant approval of The AIA, and are officially upgraded to Active Secret Agents in the field. But, that approval comes with one major caveat — they must put up with a new member of the squad: straight-guy Agent Buck (Harbour).

The first season of 10 episodes debuted in September 2020 on Netflix and there hadn’t been any word on plans for a second season. The streaming service typically makes a decision on a show’s fate within a month or so of a season’s release. No news often means bad news.

Rogers recently guest-hosted on the Attitudes! podcast and revealed that Q-Force had been cancelled. “The people who loved it, really loved it. The good news is that it will always be on Netflix. It did not get a second season but, I feel like the fact is that it is out there, and … it’s really close to my heart.”

What do you think? Have you enjoyed watching the Q-Force TV series on Netflix? Are you disappointed that it’s been cancelled? Would you have checked out a second season?

Stranger Things Star Reveals How Frustration Fueled Shocking Billy and Max Scene

Stranger Things Season 4 premiered a month ago, and the series remains one of the most-talked-about shows on the air.

Ahead of the final two episodes dropping on Netflix, Sadie Sink opened up about shooting an emotional scene with Dacre Montgomery.

On-screen, the scene looked like Montgomery and Sink shot it together, but thanks to travel restrictions, it wasn’t possible.

“That was definitely the most challenging [scene] I think I’ve ever had to do on Stranger Things, just because so much of Max and Billy’s relationship comes from the onscreen chemistry that me and Dacre have,” Sink told The Hollywood Reporter.

“Being used to working with him and reading with him for two seasons now, and then having to do a really important scene with him but not have him there, was definitely very tricky.”

“I definitely did get a little frustrated when I was on set, but I think I kind of channeled it into the scene as much as I could and ended up getting, I think, a pretty good result – and obviously, the visual effects team really stepped in and made it look as realistic as possible,” the star teased.

Montgomery previously opened up about the process of shooting the scene.

The scene came out great and showed the immense talent associated with the Netflix hit.

Looking ahead, we have around four hours of Stranger Things Season 4 left as the penultimate episode spans 90 minutes, with the finale clocking in at over 150.

Will the gang be able to take down Vecna?

That’s the big question!

Sink also aired her thoughts on Vecna as the villain and how the show made him look realistic.

“I think two things come into play when it comes to the believability of Vecna,” Sink said.

“The first just being the prosthetics and having it be mostly practical effects was really helpful,” she said.

“We’re so used to working with stunt guys and stunt-women in green bodies and tennis balls in their hands, or something like that, so having Jamie [Campbell Bower] actually there was very helpful because he was genuinely just horrifying,” she added.

“It’s just not normal what you’re looking at, so you’re kind of tricking your mind in a way, and it makes stepping into Max’s shoes that much easier.”

Stranger Things is already renewed for a fifth — and final — season, but a spinoff is planned.

What are your thoughts on how that scene came together?

Could you tell the stars were not on the same set?
