Ride: Cancelled; No Season Two for Family Ranch Drama on Hallmark Channel

Ride TV show on Hallmark Channel: canceled or renewed for season 2?

The Ride TV series won’t be back for another round. The show has been cancelled, so there won’t be a second season on Hallmark Channel. The first season of 10 episodes finished airing in May.

A family drama series, the Ride TV show stars Nancy Travis, Tiera Skovbye, Beau Mirchoff, Sara Garcia, Jake Foy, and Tyler Jacob Moore. In the story, Isabel McMurray (Travis) is the matriarch of a small-town ranching family that goes back a generation. After losing her husband years ago, Isabel has resiliently kept the ranch afloat and single-handedly raised their three sons — illustrious champion Austin (Marcus Rosner), servicemember Cash (Mirchoff), and ever-dependable Tuff (Foy). Over the years, the family has grown to include Austin’s talented wife, Missy (Skovbye), and Valeria (Garcia), a one-time runaway the family had taken in. One day, just as Cash has returned home, tragedy strikes. A year later, as the McMurrays continue to grieve their loss, the fate of their ranch is uncertain. Then, the family faces an opportunity that could decide the fate of the ranch and their future.

Airing on Sunday nights, the first season of Ride averaged a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.04 million viewers. Of the three current scripted series on Hallmark, Ride was in third place.

Reportedly, the cable channel has quietly decided against ordering a second season, likely because of low viewership.

What do you think? Have you enjoyed the Ride TV series on Hallmark Channel? Are you disappointed the series wasn’t renewed for a second season?

Run the Burbs, Everyone Else Burns: Cancelled? The CW Pulls Thursday Night Comedy Series

Run the Burbs and Everybody Else Dies TV shows on The CW: canceled?

(Photos: The CW)

The CW seems to have run out of patience and cancelled two of its imported Thursday night comedies.  Effective immediately, the Run the Burbs (season two) and Everyone Else Burns (season one) series have been pulled from the network’s schedule.

A Canadian family comedy series, the Run the Burbs TV show was created by Andrew Phung and Scott Townend. It stars Phung, Rakhee Morzaria, Zoriah Wong, Roman Pesino, Gavin Crawford, and Sharji Rasool. The story follows the Phams, a young and bold Vietnamese-South Asian family. They take a different approach to living life to the fullest while residing in the suburbs of the fictional city of Rockridge.

The second season of Run the Burbs averages a 0.03 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 203,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that’s up by 1% in the demo and down by 11% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM).

A British coming-of-age comedy series, the Everyone Else Burns TV show stars Simon Bird, Kate O’Flynn, Amy James-Kelly, Harry Connor, and Morgana Robinson. The story follows the Lewis family, a strictly religious family from Manchester, England. They are part of a puritanical Christian sect and believe the world will end within the decade.

The first season of Everyone Else Burns averages a 0.02 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 171,000 viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM).

The series are two of The CW’s lowest-rated series, so it’s not a shock that they’ve both been pulled. What is surprising is that both were already picked up for additional seasons.

While the network has not commented on the cancellations of future airings, it seems highly unlikely that additional episodes of Run the Burbs or Everyone Else Burns will be airing on the network. In the past, The CW has released unaired episodes of pulled shows via the network’s app and site.

Moving forward, the comedies will be replaced by reruns of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and The Great American Joke Off. on Thursday nights.

What do you think? Have you enjoyed the Run the Burbs or Everyone Else Burns TV series? Are you disappointed that The CW has cancelled the future scheduled airings?

The Circus: Cancelled with Season Eight; Showtime Political Docuseries Ends on Sunday

The Circus TV show on Showtime: canceled or renewed?

(Photo: Ben Hider/Paramount+ with Showtime)

The Circus is ending with its current eighth season. Showtime has announced that the 130th and final episode of the political docuseries series will be released on Sunday.

Hosted by John Heilemann, Mark McKinnon, and Jennifer Palmieri, the series premiered in 2016, and it takes viewers inside the world of politics to go beyond the headlines.

Showtime revealed more about the series ending in a press release.

After eight seasons and 130 episodes, the groundbreaking, four-time Emmy® nominated political docuseries THE CIRCUS: INSIDE THE GREATEST POLITICAL SHOW ON EARTH – hosted by John Heilemann, Mark McKinnon, and Jennifer Palmieri – concludes with a series finale episode on Sunday, November 12 at 7 P.M. ET/PT streaming on Paramount+ with the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan and on SHOWTIME linear.

Since the historic 2016 presidential race, THE CIRCUS has brought viewers behind-the-scenes and beyond the headlines of the nation’s biggest political stories inside the Beltway and beyond – while delivering the fast-paced, on-the-ground perspective, compelling and unfettered inside access, and eye-catching cinematography for which the show has been celebrated.

For eight seasons, THE CIRCUS has captured everything from Trump’s unexpected presidential victory and his contentious time in office, to the polarizing politics of the pandemic, the 2020 election and ensuing insurrection on Capitol Hill, Biden’s presidency at a time of international turmoil, and much more. The hosts have traversed the globe to give viewers a look at what the public rarely sees and explore the high human drama inherent in American politics.

“When we started The Circus in 2016, we thought it would be a one-and-done deal. Eight seasons and 130 episodes later, we’re still agog that Showtime gave us the trust and support that kept us cranking on this long, strange trip — and let us prove that our idea of doing a weekly, behind-the-scenes, real-time doc series on American politics wasn’t as unhinged as it seemed,” said host and executive producer John Heilemann. “Our belief in the importance of the story we’ve been covering and our eagerness to keep covering it, Circus-style, hasn’t changed. So when people ask what’s next, all we can say is: stay tuned.”

What do you think? Are you sad that The Circus is ending its run on Showtime? Have you enjoyed this series?

The Problem with Jon Stewart: Cancelled by Apple TV+; No Season Three Due to Creative Differences

The Problem with Jon Stewart TV Show on Apple TV+: canceled or renewed?

(Photo: Apple TV+)

The Problem with Jon Stewart will not be returning for a third season. Apple TV+ has decided to cancel the series just weeks before production on season three was scheduled to begin. The staff of the series was informed on Thursday.

The current affairs show, featuring former Daily Show host Jon Stewart, premiered in 2020, and episodes feature the host talking about news topics, conducting interviews, and more.

Per The New York Times, Apple TV+ has pulled the plug on the series over creative differences with Stewart. The topics and guests for season three were reportedly controversial, and the two sides could not come to a mutual agreement on how to move forward.

The following was said about the decision to cancel the series:

But Mr. Stewart and Apple executives had disagreements over some of the topics and guests on The Problem, two of the people said. Mr. Stewart told members of his staff on Thursday that potential show topics related to China and artificial intelligence were causing concern among Apple executives, a person with knowledge of the meeting said. As the 2024 presidential campaign begins to heat up, there was potential for further creative disagreements, one of the people said.

The Problem tackled several hot-button topics in its two seasons, including COVID-19 restrictions, the economy, climate change, racism, gun control, gender identity, and former President Trump’s indictments. The final episode was released in April.

The series has been nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series. The Emmys will be held on January 15th.

Fatal Attraction: Cancelled; No Season Two for Paramount+ Reboot Series

(Photo: Michael Moriatis/Paramount+)

Fatal Attraction will not be returning for a second season. The thriller is one of two shows the streaming service has cancelled this week. Kiefer Sutherland’s Rabbit Hole was also dropped after one season.

Starring Joshua Jackson, Lizzy Caplan, Amanda Peet, Alyssa Jirrels, Toby Huss, Reno Wilson, and Brian Goodman, the eight-episode series reimagined the 1980s thriller movie starring Glenn Close and Michael Douglas.

Paramount+ described the series this way:

The all-new series is a deep dive reimagining of the 1980s cultural touchstone FATAL ATTRACTION through the lens of privilege, personality disorders, family dynamics and murder. In the present day, after serving 15 years in prison for the murder of Alexandra Forrest (Lizzy Caplan), Daniel Gallagher (Joshua Jackson) is paroled with the goals of reconnecting with his family and proving his innocence. In 2008, Dan first meets Alex and his world begins to unravel after their brief affair threatens to destroy the life he’s built with his wife, Beth (Amanda Peet).

The following statement was released by the streamer regarding the shows’ cancellations:

“We want to thank both series’ entire creative teams, crews and the fantastic casts for their dedication to bringing these series to life. Both Fatal Attraction and Rabbit Hole will continue to be available on Paramount+ for audiences to discover.”

The series premiered in April 2023, with its finale being released on May 28th.

(Photo: NBC)

Season three of Transplant arrives on NBC tomorrow night, and the peacock network has already picked up the medical drama for a fourth season. The season four episodes have already started airing on CTV in Canada and the network has announced that those ten episodes will be the end.

Starring Hamza Haq, Laurence Leboeuf, John Hannah, Jim Watson, Ayisha Issa, Linda E. Smith, Torri Higginson, Gord Rand, Nora Guerch, and Ahmad Meree, the series follows Doctor Bashid Hamed (Haq), a talented doctor from Syria who flees his war-torn country to make a new life and career at a Toronto hospital.

CTV revealed the following about the series ending in a press release.

As TRANSPLANT returns for an all-new season, which finds everyone at York Memorial Hospital encountering bold emotional medical cases while facing personal upheaval and unexpected new beginnings, CTV announced today that the acclaimed original drama will conclude following its upcoming fourth season. The award-winning series returns to CTV’s fall schedule, airing Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, CTV.ca, and the CTV app, for an exciting conclusion to Bashir “Bash” Hamed’s (Hamza Haq, Viking) emotional journey to start his life over again, beginning Oct. 6. Consisting of 10 one-hour episodes, TRANSPLANT is produced by Sphere Media in association with CTV and Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group.

“I’d always intended a four-season window into Bashir’s life as he completes his medical residency for a second time, sets down roots in Canada, and learns to shed some of his past, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to be able to tell his complete story,” said Joseph Kay, TRANSPLANT Creator, Executive Producer, and Showrunner. “This series is a labour of love for the great many of us who make it, and we’re excited for people to keep finding it for years to come. Thank you to our partners at Bell Media and Universal International Studios for the unyielding support.”

“From the beginning viewers embraced Bash’s story and the incredible world Joseph created, and we’re incredibly proud to have been part of the journey,” said Justin Stockman, Vice-President, Content Development & Programming, Bell Media. “As Season 4 brings this story to a fulfilling end, we want to thank the extraordinary cast and crew, and our partners at Sphere Media and Universal International Studios, for bringing this unforgettable series to life.”

Currently filming in Montréal, Season 4 of TRANSPLANT finds Bashir “Bash” Hamed (Haq) on the precipice of finishing his residency at York Memorial and officially re-qualifying as a doctor. With his future uncertain once again, Bash and his sister Amira (Sirena Gulamgaus, CHAPELWAITE) are Canadian citizens now, but are still trying, with everything they have, to build a life in their adopted country.

TRANSPLANT stars Hamza Haq as Dr. Bashir “Bash” Hamed; Laurence Leboeuf (SHORESY, 19-2) as Dr. Magalie “Mags” Leblanc; Ayisha Issa (POLAR) as Dr. June Curtis; Jim Watson (DESIGNATED SURVIVOR) as Dr. Theo Hunter; Rekha Sharma (YELLOWJACKETS) as Dr. Neeta Devi; Sirena Gulamgaus as Amira Hamed; Torri Higginson (DARK MATTER, THIS LIFE) as Claire Malone; Kenny Wong (PRETTY HARD CASES) as Arnold De Luca; Sugith Varughese (KIM’S CONVENIENCE) as Dr. Aajay Singh; and Gord Rand (ORPHAN BLACK) as Dr. Mark Novak.

Since its debut in 2020, TRANSPLANT has routinely ranked as a Top 20 series on CTV and has remained the most-watched Canadian drama series each broadcast year. To date, the series has amassed 23 Canadian Screen Award nominations, and has been honoured with 15 wins, including two wins for Best Dramatic Series and three consecutive wins for Hamza Haq in the Best Lead Performer, Drama Series category.

Haq also shared about the cancellation of the series in a post on Instagram.

Vikings: Valhalla: Season Three to End Netflix Drama in 2024 (First Photos)

Vikings: Valhalla TV Show on Netflix: canceled or renewed?

(Photo: Bernard Walsh/Netflix)

It’s time for one more adventure with Vikings. Netflix has released the first photos for season three of Vikings: Valhalla. Set to arrive in 2024, it has been announced that season three will end the historical drama series.

Starring Sam Corlett, Frida Gustavsson, Leo Suter, Bradley Freegard, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Laura Berlin, David Oakes, Pollyanna McIntosh, and Soren Pilmark, the series is set 100 years after the events seen in the original Vikings series. Vikings: Valhalla follows the life of Leif Erikson (Corlett). Florian Munteanu and Goran Višnjić are joining the cast for season three.

Vikings: Valhalla co-creator Jeb Stuart said the following about ending the Netflix series, per TUDUM:

“I am so grateful to have had three seasons to tell the stories of Leif, Harald, and Freydís. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to show the evolution of how three of the most famous Vikings became the icons we know today, and we have done just that,” Stuart said. “I hope when the audience gets to see the new season, they’ll be excited by all the new heights that we’ve taken these heroes.

When we started this project five years ago, I worked hard with this incredible cast and crew to craft a journey that we all hoped would be satisfying. Of course with real historical figures, there are always more aspects of their lives that could be explored, but it made sense storywise for our Leif, Freydís, and Harald’s voyages to end with our third season. And we really cannot wait for the fans to see the conclusion of this chapter of history.”

The premiere date for Vikings: Valhalla season three will be announced later. More photos from the upcoming final season are below.

Home Economics: Cancelled by ABC; No Season Four for Family Comedy Series

Home Economics TV show on ABC: canceled or renewed for season 4?

(ABC)

The Hayworth clan has had their last family get-together. ABC has cancelled the Home Economics series, so there won’t be a fourth season. The third season of 13 episodes finished airing in January.

A family comedy series, the Home Economics TV show stars Topher Grace, Caitlin McGee, Jimmy Tatro, Karla Souza, Sasheer Zamata, Shiloh Bearman, Jordyn Curet, Chloe Jo Rountree, JeCobi Swain, and Lidia Porto. The show takes a look at the heartwarming yet super-uncomfortable and sometimes frustrating relationship between three adult siblings of the Hayworth family. Connor (Tatro) is the youngest and most successful sibling in the family and he runs his own private equity firm. His marriage has fallen apart and he has a daughter named Gretchen (Bearman). Tom (Grace) is the middle sibling and is a middle-class author who is struggling. He is married to Marina (Souza), a former attorney, and they have three kids, including Camila (Rountree). Sarah (McGee) is the eldest sibling and an out-of-work child therapist who’s barely making ends meet. She is married to Denise (Zamata), a teacher, and they have two kids (Swain and Curet). The family lives in a cramped Bay Area loft.

Airing on Wednesday nights, the third season of Home Economics averages a 0.35 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.03 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (includes all DVR playback through 3:00 AM). Compared to season two, that’s up by 7% in the demo and up by 6% in viewership. Despite the year-to-year gains, the comedy was one of ABC’s least-watched scripted series of the 2022-23 TV season. It picked up about 40% more viewers in the live+7 day ratings, averaging about 2.92 million.

The network had been holding off on making a decision on the show’s fate until the industry strikes had been resolved and even extended the cast’s options beyond the June 30th contract deadline. Now that the writers strike has been resolved and the end of the actors strike appears to be in sight, Home Economics’ fate has been decided.

A decision has yet to be made on the future of The Rookie: Feds and The Good Lawyer, a backdoor pilot spin-off of The Good Doctor.

What do you think? Do you enjoy the Home Economics TV series on ABC? Are you disappointed to hear that it’s been cancelled?

The Wonder Years: Cancelled; No Season Three for ABC Comedy Reboot (Reactions)

The Wonder Years TV show ABC: canceled or renewed for season 3?

Dean Williams’ journey won’t continue for a third season. The Wonder Years has been cancelled by ABC. The second season of ten episodes finished airing a month ago.

A coming-of-age comedy series, The Wonder Years TV show was inspired by the original 1988 series. This incarnation stars Don Cheadle, Elisha “EJ” Williams, Dule Hill, Saycon Sengbloh, Laura Kariuki, Julian Lerner, Amari O’Neil, and Milan Ray. Guests in season two include Patti LaBelle, Wayne Brady, Tituss Burgess, Donald Faison, Phoebe Robinson, and Bradley Whitford. Set in the late 1960s, the series takes a nostalgic look at the Williams family — Black middle-class residents of Montgomery, Alabama. The story is told through the point of view of Dean (Williams), the imaginative 12-year-old son of Bill (Hill) and Lillian Williams (Sengbloh), and the younger brother of Kim (Kariuki). Dean’s friends include Cory (O’Neil), Brad (Lerner), and Keisa (Ray), Dean’s secret crush. Dean narrates the story, looking back at his childhood as an adult (Cheadle). His hopeful and humorous recollections of his past spotlight the ups and downs of growing up in that time and place and the friendship, laughter, and lessons Dean encountered along the way.

Airing on Wednesday nights this summer, the second season of The Wonder Years averaged a 0.21 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.78 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 50% in the demo and down by 25% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM).

A year-to-year decline was not unexpected given that season two was delayed until summer when audience levels are lower. There were also 13 months between the end of the first season and the start of the second.

Hill reacted to the cancellation on Instagram and wrote:

“Be cool…. when chapter ends, another begins. Congrats to Saladin Patterson, this talented cast and our amazing crew on bringing this beautiful story to our TV screens for the last two seasons. I had hoped to share this story a little bit longer but that’s how it goes sometimes in this thing called show business. Grateful. What’s next?”

Original series cast member Danica McKeller responded to Hill’s post and wrote, “Oh no! Thank you for continuing our legacy in a beautiful way.”

Williams wrote to Hill, saying, “You will never stop being an inspiration to me. Been an honor being a part of this show with you. Cheers to what the future holds.”

The fates of The Rookie: Feds, Home Economics, and The Good Lawyer pilot are still up in the air.
