Chances for a second season of the Zero Chill TV series have melted. The Netflix skating drama series has been cancelled after one round of 10 episodes.
A teen drama created by Kirstie Falkous and John Regier, Zero Chill stars Grace Beedie, Dakota Benjamin Taylor, Jeremias Amoore, Anastasia Chocholatá, Leonardo Fontes, Jade Ma, Sarah-Jane Potts, Doug Rao, Tanja Ribič, Oscar Skagerberg, Stan Steinbichler, and Christina Tam. In the story, the MacBentley family moves from Toronto to England when son Mac (Taylor) is offered a place at a legendary hockey academy. He’s arrogant but also a superstar player. His twin sister is Kayla (Beedie), a figure skater who’s struggling now that she’s been separated from her skating partner. Kayla and Mac both make magic on the ice, but their approaches are poles apart.
The 10-episode first season of Zero Chill was filmed in Sheffield, UK, and was produced by Lime Pictures for Netflix. The season was released on Netflix on March 15th.
According to Deadline, a Lime spokeswoman said: “There are currently no plans for a second series of Zero Chill. We are very proud of the show we made and its global success. Sheffield was a wonderful place to film in and we hope to return to the city with future projects.”
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of Zero Chill on Netflix? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season?

9-1-1 is on the rise as it builds towards its fall finale.
The veteran FOX drama inched up to 5.2 million total viewers and a 0.8 rating to lead the night in the demo.
The Big Leap was also on the up side, rising to 1.3 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in the demo.
The feel-good drama is probably not coming back. It has failed to garner much traction out of 9-1-1 this fall.
FOX has also opted not to place a backorder for more episodes, meaning the series will end its season next week.
NBC’s The Voice managed 6.3 million viewers and a 0.7 rating ahead of its season finale.
The show is down from recent years, but it remains a solid performer for the network.
That’s My Jam managed had 4.2 million viewers and a 0.6 rating, holding up well out of The Voice.
Over on CBS, The Neighborhood (5.4 million viewers/0.6 rating), Bob Hearts Abishola (5 million/0.5 rating), NCIS (7.2 million/0.6 rating), and NCIS: Hawai’i (4.9 million/0.4 rating) were all steady with their prior originals.
ABC went with CMA Country Christmas (3.8 million/0.4 rating) and Christmas Light Fight (2.3 million/0.4 rating) — both of which managed respectable numbers.
All American was on hiatus, and The CW aired The Black Pack (0.4 million/0.1 rating) in its place.
4400 closed out the night for the network at 340.000 viewers and a 0.1 rating.
An episode of “The Simpsons” that lasers in on oppression in China has mysteriously disappeared from Disney+ in Hong Kong … but there are clues as to who caused it to be yanked.
The episode — titled “Goo Goo Gai Pan” — aired in 2005, chronicling the Simpsons’ trip to China. One of the main plotlines …. Marge’s sister, Selma, is there to adopt a baby, but the infant is yanked from her arms by a Chinese official.
In another scene, the fam visits Tiananmen Square … the legendary scene of protest, violence and defiance. A sign in the Square reads, “On this site, in 1989, nothing happened.” It’s a not-so-subtle dig at China trying to sanitize what actually went down.
Tibet is also part of the show — where religious oppression reigned supreme at the hands of Beijing.
So, as for why the episode was 86’d … nobody’s talking, but the streamer just debuted in Hong Kong and it seems there may have been a precondition courtesy of the Chinese Government for entry — scrub the episode.
The night belonged to the crime-fighters and first responders of primetime as 9-1-1 and NCIS led the charge on Monday. Fox and CBS resumed their typical Monday programming after repeats last week leading into the Thanksgiving holiday.
The latest episode of 9-1-1 on Fox earned a 0.8 demo rating and 5.24 million viewers, per fast affiliates. Surpassing The Voice (0.7, 6.28M, 9-1-1 was the highest-rated program of the evening. The Fox drama was up a good amount from its most recent new episode on Nov. 16 (0.5, 4.91M)
In the same hour, ABC peaked with CMA Country Christmas (0.4, 3.81M), followed by The Great Christmas Light Fight (0.4, 2.31M), which filled the spot that previously belonged to Dancing With The Stars.
It had been a hot minute since CBS aired a fresh episode of NCIS, with the last airing on Nov. 9. That said, the CBS drama came back from its brief break strong (0.6, 7.17M) once again earning the night’s biggest audience. In the same hour, The Big Leap (0.3, 1.32M) on Fox bounced back with the season’s penultimate episode after nearing audience lows earlier this month.
The Voice provided That’s My Jam (0.6, 4.15M) with a comfortable enough lead-in to top NCIS: Hawai’i in demo rating during the 10 p.m. hour.
The CW peaked with The Black Pack: We Three Kings (0.1, 0.40M) and 4400 (0.1, 0.34M) was steady in demo but dropped in viewers.

The thing about the past is often what happens in the past is meant to stay firmly buried in the past.
You live, and you learn, right? You take the good with the bad, and you move onward. But sometimes, the past stays with you in a way that prevents you from moving forward.
9-1-1 Season 5 Episode 9 gives us some insight into Taylor’s past, and it further cements Buck and Taylor as a solid 9-1-1 couple. Whether or not we want that is another question entirely.
Here’s the thing about Taylor; the writers did the character a huge disservice by introducing her in the manner they did. For good reason, she was automatically viewed a certain way by the audience, and you don’t have the luxury on television of escaping a bad first impression a lot of the time.
Especially not when you’re a recurring character relegated to just being a main character love interest.
So, that’s why it’s extra frustrating now to see the way they’re trying to rehabilitate Taylor and make us fall for this love story that lacks even a shred of credibility. Not only have we barely seen the relationship on-screen, what they’ve shown us is two people who don’t seem to have a ton in common, nor much chemistry.
Bobby: Why does this keep happening to you?
Buck: Well, to be honest, I think…
Bobby: No, I’m gonna tell you why. Because you don’t talk to the women you’re dating. You just go with the flow and find yourself in a relationship, with no idea how you got there and what to do when things start to go wrong.
Eddie: Yeah. Who does that?
What Bobby said to Buck in the truck was spot on because Buck is not a great communicator. And after meeting his parents and seeing his childhood, it’s very apparent why that is. But he does tend to just go with what feels good at the moment and doesn’t think much beyond that.
A romantic relationship can only last so long when the two parties don’t talk to one another.
It’s clear the writers want us to forget all about the uglier aspects of Taylor’s personality and now see her as a person with a tragic past she’s been trying to outrun. And that’s all well and good, and it’s very easy to sympathize with her plight, but it just doesn’t stop this pairing from feeling incredibly forced.
If the plan was always for things to end with Buck and Taylor happy and in love and the audience buying it, they should have started the Taylor absolution tour a long time ago. And even then, it may have been too late because the relationship falls very flat.
Concerning the actual storyline with Taylor’s parents, she made the right choice for herself, and even though she left Oklahoma in pain, she could at least leave knowing she stayed true to her feelings and not what she felt like was expected of her by anyone.
Buck was there for her because that’s who Buck is. Buck would take on the burdens of the whole world if it meant that people would be even the slightest bit happier for it.
But again, even their reunion in Oklahoma felt off, and emotions were high, of course, but I still kept waiting for something terrible to happen because their relationship is just so hot and cold.
On the flipside, a relationship that just gets better and better is Bobby and Athena. And what a welcome change of pace seeing them team up and have a little fun together.
No one needs me to stand on my soapbox again and lament all the shortcomings of 9-1-1 Season 5. But not only have things been up and down, but things have been heavy as well. And that’s to be expected with a show like this, but 9-1-1 was always joyful, too.
There was always fun sprinkled in with the chaos, and that’s been missing in spades this season. This was one of the first hours that gave us back some of that magic.
Bobby and Athena are the pillar for which all couples on 9-1-1 will be judged from here until eternity. I don’t make the rules, but I sure do follow them.
The biker bandit case was an opportunity for them to work together and put their expansive knowledge to good use. And they also got to dress up and get out of the house for the night. So it was indeed a double win.
Side note, Bobby would make such a good detective. He’s so good at picking up on little things, and he knows how to piece together clues and test out theories and hypotheses.
All he and Athena had to do was spend a little time on that casino floor, get the lay of the land, and sync the puzzle pieces together. A case long since buried and forgotten was suddenly solved in the blink of an eye, all thanks to the Grant-Nash household.
Athena: I mean, maybe they did do it on purpose.
Bobby: Inside job. Eliminate the impossible and only the improbable remains.
Athena: Oh yeah, Okay, Sherlock.
Give us more of this! Give us more of the best husband and wife duo solving crime and looking damn good while doing it.
Elsewhere, Hen was trying to get Toni back on the horse when she ran into her mother’s old flame on a call. And even though Hen’s heart was in the right place, Toni wasn’t wrong to be put off on her daughter’s meddling.
Toni never gave Hen any indication that she wanted to pick things back up with Clive. And Hen didn’t even really know their history enough to know that Clive was what Toni wanted at this time.
In the end, it all worked, and Toni realized she still did want Clive in her life, but I liked that it didn’t just end up there right away. Instead, Toni had her moment to talk it out and figure out if she was willing to leave the past in the past or bring some of that past into her future.
9-1-1 wasn’t exactly breaking the mold with this story, but it was pretty much worth it to see the two of them reconnect all these years later and get to have some fun in the sun. They’ve lived a lot of life in the years they were apart, but they’d never forgotten about the past they shared.
Everything that happens in our past really does shape so much of our future. And that’s not always a bad thing.
The past is truly prologue.
Odds and Ends
May walking in on Athena and Bobby amid some adult shenanigans was the best scene of the season. It was relatable, funny, and just the perfect laugh-out-loud scene.
And speaking of Bobby, Peter Krause has been criminally underused this season!
There was only one emergency during the installment, and it drove home the idea about not being defined by our past. And the two girls sold the strangers trapped in a life or death situation, and there was a lot of oil which was visually cool. That’s pretty much all there is to say about that.
Do the writers remember Eddie exists? He broke up with Ana, and it’s like they decided that was enough story for the WHOLE SEASON.
So, Buck and Taylor are in love? Okay.
Somehow, we have reached the midseason finale, and I don’t know what to think about that.
At least we’re headed into the long hiatus coming off of two pretty decent installments!

Bill Cosby is a free man, but prosecutors are asking the highest court in the land to review his case … claiming he was never given immunity from a PA prosecutor in the Andrea Constand case.
According to new legal docs obtained by TMZ … prosecutors in Pennsylvania are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to look at the PA Supreme Court’s ruling which overturned Cosby’s conviction — leading to his immediate release from prison.
JUNE 2021
FOX 29
Remember, Cosby walked free back in June after serving more than 2 years of a 10-year sentence in his sexual assault case. The PA Supreme Court ruled the conviction was bogus because Cosby had relied on an agreement with a previous prosecutor to not criminally charge him when he was deposed in the Constand case.
In new docs, prosecutors are calling on the U.S. Supreme Court to right what they say is a “grievous wrong,” arguing Cosby’s overturned conviction is a slippery slope that could set a dangerous precedent.
They insist Cosby wasn’t given lifetime immunity from prosecution just because the former prosecutor declined to criminally charge him at the time.
The appeal is a bit of a Hail Mary on behalf of prosecutors. The U.S. Supreme Court hears less than 1% of petitions, but there’s still a chance … however slim.
Cosby’s spokesperson, Andrew Wyatt, is ripping prosecutors over the appeal, saying the D.A.’s Office is “unwilling to accept its epic loss” and he’s calling it a “pathetic last-ditch effort that will not prevail.”
Tonight on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the host takes a dig at Jeff Bezos and Cyber Monday.
“Aka, buy Jeff Bezos as second penis rocket day!”
He mentions that even though people are excited to purchase gifts for the Christmas holiday, the American supply chain issue is still a hot mess. It’s being made worse by consumer hoarding and with customers buying two and three of everything to make up for delays and cancellations. Colbert makes light of a bad situation with some familiar words.
“Okay, that’s 16 maids-a-milking, 20 lords-a-leaping, and forget about 12 drummers drumming, just hire the Texas A&M marching band.”
Yahoo spoke to spending experts that state buyers are apprehensive about buying stating “They [customers] are eager to shop but anxious about the execution.” He follows this quote with an unexpected reference to old French royalty.
“Coincidentally, easy to shop and anxious about the execution–also the title to Marie Antoinette’s memoir. You don’t hear Marie Antionette jokes anymore!”

HBO Max will be the exclusive home to the sequel of a successful Warner Bros. property.
According to Deadline, the Magic Mike franchise is getting a third chapter, with Channing Tatum set to return for Magic Mike’s Last Dance.
Tatum played Mike Lane in the first two movies, and given the title of the new flick, it sounds like the movie will conclude the franchise.
Then again, it could lead to a TV show or spinoff movies on the streaming service.
In fact, an unscripted series titled Finding Magic Mike is set to bow on the streamer on December 16.
Streaming services have been reaching into the back catalogs of the media conglomerates that own them in an effort to drive subscriber numbers.
Steven Soderbergh and writer Reid Carolin are also set to return for the next chapter.
The first two films amassed nearly $300 million worldwide, so there is a desire for the movies.
What’s more, a successful stage show followed in 2017.
Titled Magic Mike Live, it kicked off in Las Vegas, but made its way to international markets shortly after.
In a testament to the success of the live show, Magic Mike Live will return in April for a multi-year North American tour.
“Is there anybody on screen more charismatic and appealing than Magic Mike?” said Toby Emmerich, Chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group.
“We’re thrilled to be back in business with Channing, Steven and their creative team to bring back Magic Mike’s wonderful combination of dance, drama, romance and humor.”
“There are no words for how excited I am to blow the doors off of the world of ‘Magic Mike’ with Steven, Greg, Reid, and the amazing people at HBO Max. The stripperverse will never be the same,” said Tatum.
“As soon as I saw what Channing, Reid, and the ‘Magic Mike’ choreographic team did with the live show, I said we have to make another movie. Mike Lane’s dream of connecting people through dance must be realized,” Soderbergh added.
Magic Mike’s Last Stand joins an original movie development slate at HBO Max that includes Evil Dead Rise, Bat Girl, House Party, and The Father of the Bride.
