Bob Odenkirk was rushed to the hospital after collapsing on the set of his show “Better Call Saul” … and is still receiving medical care.
Production sources tell TMZ Odenkirk and cast were shooting on the Sony Lot in Culver City Tuesday when the incident happened. We’re told Odenkirk went down, and was immediately surrounded by crew members who called an ambulance.
We’ve learned paramedics got a call to the lot at 11:34 AM for a medical emergency.
We’re told it’s unclear if he was conscious when he was transported, but a source close to Odenkirk tells us he is still in the hospital under the care of doctors.
Odenkirk became a household name when he played attorney Saul Goodman on “Breaking Bad.” “Better Call Saul” — a spinoff of “Breaking Bad” — is currently shooting its 6th and final season. No word on how far along Odenkirk and team are in finishing it up or if his medical situation will delay production in any capacity.
EXCLUSIVE:Telepool’s Global Screen and Elsani & Neary Media are joining forces to develop a television series based on the true stories of the people who dug Tunnel 29, the famed secret passage from West to East Berlin that ran underneath the Berlin Wall.
Director Marcus Vetter (Heart of Jenin) is aboard the project, he recently made the documentary Tunnel To Freedom on the same subject, for which he conducted interviews with eye-witnesses. Also involved is writer Paul Unwin, who created long-running medical drama Casualty; he will pen the screenplay using original documents from the Stasi archives.
The story will begin on August 13, 1961, when East Germany closed its borders to West Berlin. A group of students teamed with a civil engineer to conceive a 135-meter-long tunnel under the Berlin Wall, helping 29 people to escape. Images from the daring project became world-famous.
The same story was recently recounted in BBC Radio 4 podcast Tunnel 29, which has since been optioned by Sister for screen, as Deadlineexclusively revealed.

Producer Anita Elsani of Elsani & Neary Media commented, “We think we know the story of the Berlin Wall. Our series shows how digging a tunnel beneath a city can become the key to freedom or a deadly trap. A thriller about the foremost human need – freedom. This is about the German people. This is about their outstanding fight with history, about the profound dangers of nationalism and of an intolerant ideology.“
Marcus Vetter added, “[The tunnelers] interrupted their studies, risked their own lives and stood up for the freedom of Berlin with youthful daring. They became a symbol of the Cold War themselves. During the research for the documentary, however, many personal stories fell by the wayside, and did not make it into the final cut. I am therefore very happy to give these stories a fictional home with my collaboration on the series.“
Julia Weber, Head of Acquisitions & Sales at Global Screen added, “This project marks a great example of our newly-implemented company strategy: teaming up with the producer at an early stage for co-development and co-production, in order to bring appealing local stories to global audiences.”

“Soul!” put Black culture on the TV map at a time when it hadn’t really been done before … and if you’ve never heard of the first Black variety show on American television, well, it’s an amazing story about an openly gay Black host who trailblazed in so many ways in the ’60s.
Melissa Haizlip was on “TMZ Live” Thursday … she produced an amazing documentary about her uncle, Ellis Haizlip, who hosted “Soul!,” the PBS show from 1968 to 1973.
Ellis’s show became a platform for political expression and social justice at a time when civil rights and the Vietnam War were front and center in America.
It’s pretty amazing … when Ellis hosted the show homosexuality was illegal in many states, and homophobia was rampant. He even had Louis Farrakhan as a guest, and confronted him over his condemnation of homosexuality.
The doc, “Mr. Soul!,” is riveting … and it’s no wonder why it’s already getting Oscar-worthy buzz. It drops Sunday on HBO Max.
Disney is firing back at a lawsuit filed by Scarlett Johansson.
Earlier on Thursday, news broke that the Black Widow actress had filed a lawsuit against the Marvel parent company over its release of the movie on Disney+ through Premiere Access at the same time it hit theaters.
“There is no merit whatsoever to this filing,” a spokesperson said, according to Deadline.
“The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the Covid-19 pandemic,” the statement continues.
“Disney has fully complied with Ms. Johansson’s contract and furthermore, the release of Black Widow on Disney+ with Premier Access has significantly enhanced her ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20M she has received to date.”
The terms of what the actress would make based on the performance on Disney+ via Premier Access have not been revealed.
The lawsuit, obtained by The Wall Street Journal, alleges that the decision for the hybrid release strategy breached her contract and could ultimately cost the star more than $50 million.
“Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms. Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel,” the suit alleges.
What’s more, it was also alleged that Scarlett’s representatives tried to renegotiate her contract when the movie was revealed to be having a day and date theater and streaming launch.
But both Disney and Marvel reportedly did not respond.
Black Widow was initially set for May 2020 but was hit with a string of delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Movie theaters worldwide were closed, and in many territories, they are just starting to reopen.
The hybrid release model was revealed earlier this year, with Disney adding a $30 surcharge for Disney+ subscribers who wanted to watch the movie at home as opposed to venturing to cinemas.
When the movie launched earlier this month, it racked up over $60 million from Disney+ Premiere Access in its opening weekend alone.
It also made $80 million at the box office in the U.S.
To date, it has made $318 million at the box office, but no up-to-date figures have been revealed for Disney + watchers.
“Today’s announcement reflects our focus on providing consumer choice and serving the evolving preferences of audiences,” said Kareem Daniel, chairman of Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution at the time the movie was pushed to Disney+.
“By leveraging a flexible distribution strategy in a dynamic marketplace that is beginning to recover from the global pandemic, we will continue to employ the best options to deliver The Walt Disney Company’s unparalleled storytelling to fans and families around the world.”

AC Studios will serve as the studio on the project, with Mark Johnson (Rain Main, Breaking Bad), Scott Frank (The Queen’s Gambit, Logan), and T-Bone Burnett (The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?) exec producing.
Kevin Cotter, David Levine and Zack Hayden will oversee the project on behalf of AC Studios.
Baer is known for penning See No Evil, the 2002 book which was later adapted into Syriana. The geopolitical thriller from director Stephen Gaghan starred George Clooney, Matt Damon and more, winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor (Clooney), among other accolades.
On the TV side, Baer has been involved with such series as JFK Declassified: Tracking Oswald and Hunting Hitler, hosting the latter for History.
