The Bold and the Beautiful star Kiara Barnes has been cast as a series regular and John Gabriel Rodriguez (If Loving You Is Wrong) as heavily recurring inFantasy Island, Fox’s contemporary version of the classic drama series which has a straight-to-series order to air this summer. The project hails from writer-producers Liz Craft and Sarah Fain as well as Sony Pictures TV and its Gemstone Studios label which co-produce with Fox Entertainment.
Actress-singer Barnes has been tapped for Fantasy Island as she is finishing her last year on CBS’ long-running daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful where she has played Zoe Buckingham since 2018. She will be wrapping production on the soap soon.
The reboot is keeping the semi-anthological format of the original Fantasy Island with a three main characters, two played by Barnes and Rodriguez, who live/work on the island and new guests arriving in every episode.
The original series, created by Gene Levitt and executive produced by Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg, starred Ricardo Montalbán as the mysterious Mr. Roarke and Hervé Villechaize as his assistant Tattoo as they grant guests so-called “fantasies” on the island for a price.
The new Fantasy Island will be run by Elena Roarke, a direct descendant of Mr. Roarke.
Barnes will play the warm and wise Ruby Okoro, a young woman with an old soul. She arrives on Fantasy Island with a terminal illness, but Roarke and the island give her a new lease on life.
Rodriguez will play the rugged, handsome and charismatic Javier, Fantasy Island’s head of transport – a pilot, mechanic and jack of all trades. While the island provides Javier refuge, as with everything else it offers, it may come at the price of a reckoning.
There is no direct version of the Tattoo character in the reboot.
The Fantasy Island reimagining, written and executive produced by Craft and Fain, delves into the “what if” questions that keep us awake at night. Each episode will tell emotional, provocative stories about people who walk in with a desire, but end up reborn to themselves through the magical realism of Fantasy Island.
Barnes recently starred in the Lifetime original movie The Wrong Wedding. She also stars on the UMC show Stuck With You, which is headed into Season 2. She is repped by by Zero Gravity Management, Aperture Talent Agency and attorney Melanie Frank.
Rodriquez, who has done guest starring/recurring stints on NCIS, Young and Hungry, The Fosters and Rosewood and was a series regular in the NBC pilot Miranda’s Rights, is repped by Haven Entertainment.

Michael Richards allegedly pulled off a caper some people might call Kramer-ish — cutting down a neighbor’s 30-year-old trees … but they’re not laughing, in fact, they’re suing the “Seinfeld” star and his wife.
Maxine Adams is suing Kramer and his wife, Beth Skipp, claiming they sauntered over to her Pacific Palisades property on April 2 and “maliciously cut mature Brazilian Pepper Trees and underbrush” on her property.
In docs, obtained by TMZ, Adams says her property is right next door to the Richards’ — they share a border which is only separated by a narrow public walkway.
Adams says Kramer and Beth had no business chopping down her two 18-foot trees just to improve their ocean views. Adams says the trees were 30 years old and providing significant privacy and shade.
Adams claims the couple cut down the trees knowing full well they didn’t have Adams’s consent in order to “significantly enhance the value of their home as it would increase their view to the Pacific Ocean.”
And, get this … Adams claims she can’t crane in new large box trees and instead will have to plant much smaller ones that’ll take 20 years to reach the height of her old ones — and will cost her more than $62k. She’s suing for that amount, plus at least another $200k for the loss of aesthetic value to property.
We’ve reached out to Michael and Beth … so far no word back.
Another episode, another missed opportunity to save Kara in both worlds.
The Super Friends’ Phantom problem grew so far out of control on Supergirl Season 6 Episode 4 that they needed to focus all of their efforts on stopping it. And a betrayal in the Phantom Zone lead to Kara destroying her only way home.
The hour was mostly filler, which is a bit disappointing for a final season. However, it was still more intriguing than past episodes as it had great action and well-crafted character moments.
Plus, it was the first time Lex Luthor wasn’t featured, which is always a win in my book.
The Phantom Zone really hasn’t been paid its dues on Supergirl Season 6, until “Lost Souls.”
The season’s story, so far, has mostly taken place in National City with the Super Friends trying to save Kara from their end.
We’ve seen Kara meet her father, but they’ve had too little screentime together to make us care about their relationship or Zor-El as a character.
We are more interested in Nyxly and her relationship with Kara than the one between a father and daughter, which is wild, to say the least.
All of this is why we are okay with Kara being trapped in the Phantom Zone a little longer.
The storyline that Supergirl Season 6 Episode 1 introduced needs to be justified, and it wouldn’t have felt right if Kara returned to Earth so easily.
She has some unfinished business in the Zone. Assuming he is still alive, there is still tension between her and Zor-El. They need to discuss their varying views on hope and giving up.
As a father and daughter, they have a bond right out of the gate. But the show hasn’t built upon that any further besides a bunch of exposition.
And if Nyxly survived the explosion as well, Kara needs to prepare herself for a fight. But that won’t be easy given her weakened state.
Supergirl hasn’t come close to banking on the potential of the Phantom Zone storyline, but they still have the time and bandwidth to do so.
Nyxly’s turn to the dark side, if we can even call it that, wasn’t all that surprising because the show did a good job of building to it.
They planted seeds of doubt regarding her character, and when it was time for them to escape to Earth, she showed her true colors.
It’s difficult to call her a villain just yet because her reasons behind wanting revenge are understandable. Nyxly has been wronged by the men in her life, and it’s easy to see why she’s untrustworthy of fathers.
But she is driven by revenge, which is usually the first ingredient to making a great villain. If Nyxly is alive, which we truly believe she is, Kara will definitely have her hands full.
Over in National City, the Super Friends had a major Phantom problem that was spreading.
But with a new addition to the team and a few heartbreakingly difficult decisions, they were able to catch the original Phantom who escaped on Supergirl Season 6 Episode 2.
This story had been rather uninteresting up until now, and that’s because the stakes were finally raised.
There were a lot of scientific terms tossed around that, frankly, went over our heads. But the sentiment was all the same. Alex had to choose between saving the city and saving her sister.
There has been plenty of discussion over how to go on and make decisions with Kara gone, but there was never any action behind those words until Alex took Lena’s device.
Alex has struggled with Kara’s absence, as one would expect. Not that there was any doubt, but this separation reinforced the strength of their relationship.
Alex and Kara are each other’s person, which is what made Alex’s choice to find Prime Phantom’s lair over finding her sister that much more heartbreaking.
It was the right call, of course, but it still hurt all the same.
Alex’s decision also showed how far she has come as a hero. Kara has taught her so much, and vice versa, and there’s no doubt that Alex will find another way to save her sister.
Lena, on the other hand, is new to the superhero business, so she wasn’t ready to let go of her one chance of getting Kara back.
It was a combination of missing Kara, being new to a team setting, and Lena’s inability to forgive herself. She blames herself for Kara ending up in the Phantom Zone, even though it was her crazy brother who put her there.
It’s understandable, though, because Lena feels like she has a lot to make up for after her actions on Supergirl Season 5.
While she disagreed with Alex during their scene together, deep down she understood why Alex chose to save the many over her sister’s life.
Maybe Lena will get to a place where she can make the decision that Alex made someday. She just needs to spend more time with the team. After all, none of them became superheroes overnight and they are all constantly learning from one another.
Finally, Dreamer got some much-needed appreciation from Supergirl!
Nia Nal and her extremely cool powers have been severely underused, but this hour sprinkled in clues that will set up a major outing for her on Supergirl Season 5 Episode 5.
Strangely, Nia was having dreams of Kara and Alex as teens in Midvale.
The dreams seemingly had nothing to do with their present crisis, but we later found out that they were telling Nia how they needed to save Kara. It’s time for a blast to the past, ladies and gentlemen.
What did you think, Supergirl Fanatics?
Do you want more from the Phantom Zone storyline? Are you happy that Lena is finally getting a sense of belonging with the Super Friends? How refreshing was it to have an episode without Lex for the first time in what feels like forever?
And are you excited for next week’s “flashback” episode?

Subsequently, the late-night host shifted gears to address the verdict. “After 10 hours of deliberation, a jury in Minneapolis decided that it’s illegal for the police to murder people, that Black lives matter,” the host explained. “It’s hard to celebrate because a man is still dead, but there is a sense of relief that at least this one injustice was not compounded with indifference.”
As Colbert noted, the trial could have easily gone the other way, despite the fact that the killing of Floyd was captured on camera. “No matter what you saw on that tape, this nation does not have a great track record on this subject,” the host said, referring to court cases involving the killing of Black people by police officers. “But at least in this case, this man faces accountability.”
Still, he said, “justice is a far more difficult goal.”
“The verdict doesn’t change the fact that America has “a problem of over-policing and systematic racism,” he continued. “But hopefully, this is a step toward a future where police being held accountable for their actions isn’t headline material, and a hope that accountability today is a deterrent for tomorrow.”
As Colbert noted, today was just the latest stop on a journey that began in May of 2020, leading to nationwide protests calling for accountability amongst the police. “But this is just one stop,” he added. “There is more work to be done, and it’s work that all of us should be committed to because, as Ben Crump, the Floyd family lawyer reminded us today, justice for Black America is justice for all America.”

Hardcore “Cobra Kai” fans listen up … if ya wanna live in Daniel LaRusso’s mansion now’s the time to act ’cause the crib just hit the market.
First thing’s first … the 6-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom home is NOT in Encino, CA. It’s actually in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta, GA. That, of course, means tons of sprawling land for the lucky buyer who can plunk down $2.65 million.
The 9,214-square-foot home sits on a 1.1-acre lot. The so-called Villa Flora mansion features a Tuscan design … inspired by the owners’ trip to Italy.
True “Cobra Kai” fans know about the house brawls that were filmed at the crib for the Netflix series … but for those who want a bit more history check this out — according to the listing, the house has hosted some distinguished guests … including 2 former U.S. Presidents and legendary golfer Arnold Palmer.
Chad Carrodus and Jere Metcalf of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty have the listing.

Sandra Oh returned home to discover some valuable jewelry had gone missing, and did exactly what you should do — report it to cops, but then she had a stroke of … let’s call it luck.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … the “Killing Eve” star called the LAPD Wednesday night to report her valuable bling was gone after she’d been away from her L.A.-area house for a few months.
We’re told police responded and did some investigating. They didn’t find any signs of forced entry, but did learn people had been let in and out of Sandra’s pad while she was away. 🤔
Our sources say a grand theft report was taken with the estimated value of the loss being more than $150,000.
However, the very next day … we’re told Sandra called the cops back and told them her missing jewelry had shown up in the house. It’s unclear if it was somehow returned, or if it never left the house, and was simply found.
Either way, it’s great news for Sandra … and the cops. The case is now closed.
